Russian M1968 helmet as used by the Afghan army. The meaning of the painted green band is unknown, but could just be the colour of islam. I do not know the meaning of the black text on the right side.

Another Russian M1968 in Afghan service. Sand coloured with painted olive green band and red text on the right side. The helmet has a simple red and yellow decal with the Afghan coat of arms in front. The helmet retains its original olive green colour inside.

Yet another Russian M1968, painted sand. Black text on the right side. The helmet retains its original olive green colour inside. (My cat shares my interest in helmets, as you can see...)

Romanian M1973 as used by Afghan troops. The helmet is painted white on the outside, but retains its original dark olive green on the inside. The two painted bands are olive green. The black text is on the right side of the helmet. It has the red and yellow decal in the front.
